Abstract
This study examines al-amtsal (parables) as a teaching method employed by Prophet Muhammad saw, focusing on the abwab al-amthal in Jami’ al-Tirmidhi. Using a qualitative literature-based approach from primary and secondary sources, the research identifies patterns of al-amtsal in hadiths and evaluates their relevance for contemporary Islamic education. Findings indicate that al-amtsal facilitates understanding of abstract concepts, engages in the affective dimension, and strengthens the internalization of spiritual values. Although originating in the Prophet’s time, this method remains relevant and adaptable for modern teaching strategies. Therefore, al-amtsal should be developed as a contextual teaching method grounded in the Prophetic tradition.
