Abstract


Perang selalu diidentikkan dengan peran laki-laki, termasuk juga Perang Korea. Namun, pada kenyataannya, tidak sedikit perempuan Korea Selatan yang memberikan kontribusi aktifnya demi mempertahankan negara. Tulisan ini berusaha melihat peran perempuan Korea Selatan dalam bidang militer, yakni sebagai tentara perempuan dan perawat militer; serta bidang nonmiliter sebagai partisipan gerilya. Dengan menggunakan metode sejarah yang meliputi heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi serta memanfaatkan sejumlah studi literatur, tulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa peran perempuan Korea Selatan tidak hanya terbatas pada ranah domestik sebagi penyokong keluarga, karena mempertahankan negara adalah kewajiban seluruh rakyat terlepas dari apapun jenis kelaminnya.
